Day 235 (Arrival Durban)

📅 (20.) (February) 2026 📍(Durban, South Afrika)

South Africa – Durban: Container unloading

At last, the moment had arrived: after seven weeks at sea, the container seal was officially broken. Following a brief customs inspection, clearance was granted and we were finally able to drive our VW ID. Buzz onto the streets of Durban for the first time — a significant milestone and the official beginning of our Africa chapter.

Together with our new cameraman, Tristan Reip from Teakler-Videoproduction, who will be accompanying us across Africa, we then drove along a beautiful, tree-lined avenue to KĂĽhne + Nagel. There, we completed the final administrative formalities and documented this milestone with photographs.

On our way to the charging station, we discovered an impressive solar installation integrated into a covered parking area — a powerful symbol of sustainable mobility. With the container phase now behind us, the tension of the past weeks finally gave way to a sense of relief and anticipation for the road ahead.

Next stop: Durban!
