From Mannheim to Hannover – The Kick-Off of the ID. Buzz World Tour

At exactly 8 a.m., I – Rainer Zietlow – picked up our cameraman, Sönke Dannemann, in Mannheim, and together we set off in the all-electric ID. Buzz Long Wheel Base towards Hannover, where the official start of the ID. Buzz World Tour will take place tomorrow.

First Stop: AvD in Frankfurt

Our first stop brought us to the Automobilclub von Deutschland (AvD) in Frankfurt. This is where we are having our border document, the Carnet de Passage, issued. We were welcomed personally by the AvD’s Head of Marketing. Shortly after, the Managing Director and President of the AvD also stopped by to take a close look at the ID. Buzz – a strong sign of support right at the beginning of the tour.

Historic Setting Meets High-Tech Charging

Further along the A5, we stopped at Germany’s oldest highway rest stop. Between traditional architecture and modern Ionity fast-charging stations (Ionity is a partner of Elli), we captured more photo and video material – now available here on the blog. While filming, we also recharged the ID. Buzz for the final stretch to Hannover.

Arrival in Hannover: Final Preparations for the Big Start

In the early evening, we arrived in Hannover – right in the middle of a massive crowd heading to the Robbie Williams concert. We used the remaining time to prep the ID. Buzz: checking the charging plan, securing our equipment, and going through the final route details.

From tomorrow on, it’s: One roadtrip. One electric van. One world record.

Stay tuned – this blog will feature regular updates, photos, and behind-the-scenes insights. For even more, check out the social channels of our sponsors.

Next stop: Official tour launch at the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Customer Center in Hannover.
