Day 21 Ankara, Batumi

📅  21th July 2025 📍Ankara

From Ankara to Batumi – Black Sea Roads and Rally Encounters

From central Anatolia, we turned north. With the mountains behind us and the Black Sea ahead, we sped along smooth, well-developed highways toward Trabzon.
Thanks to the local Ĺ koda and Volkswagen teams, we had no trouble topping up the Buzz using D-Charge. Everything worked seamlessly, and we were back on the road in no time. A huge thank you to the crews on-site who made it all easy, even without much advance notice.

As we approached the coast, something unexpected added a splash of adventure to the day: cars from the legendary Mongol Rally began popping up along the route. Dusty, sticker-covered hatchbacks and modified vans zipped past us—or broke down beside us. It felt like we were part of something bigger, a quiet brotherhood of road warriors heading east.Night fell quickly as we neared the Georgian border. We rolled through the tunnel just before midnight, officially entering Batumi under cover of darkness—its palm trees and bright casinos hinting that we’d arrived somewhere very different again.
