Day 248 from Mbeya to Border Malawie

📅 7TH March 2026 📍Mbeya, Tansania

On the Road to Malawi – Between Plantations and Border Traffic

We started very early in the morning, knowing that a long distance lay ahead as we aimed to reach and cross the border into Tanzania. Along the way, we made a short stop at a local school where we took the opportunity to explain our vehicle and the concept of electric mobility to the students — a small but meaningful exchange.

Rain showers repeatedly passed over us during the day, yet we managed to complete a charging stop while staying dry. Since leaving Mpika, the road conditions had not improved much. Deep potholes and rough surfaces continued to slow our progress. Only after another charging stop close to the border did the road begin to improve again.

Late in the evening, we finally reached and crossed the border into Tanzania. A new country awaited us — with new challenges, new impressions, and the unmistakable presence of the region’s iconic tuk-tuks.
