Day 254 from Ngara to Kigali, Rwanda

📅 12TH March 2026 📍Rwanda

From tuck tuck to bicycle

Early in the morning, we made a short stop in Burundi before continuing our journey toward Rwanda. Along the way, we encountered heavy rain, and the landscape gradually became more mountainous.

Around midday, we reached the border of Rwanda. There, we said goodbye to our electrician, Mr. Maskuz, who had accompanied us through Tanzania and supported us with charging our VW ID. Buzz. A heartfelt thank you to him for his guidance, support, and dedication.

Entering Rwanda felt like stepping into a completely new environment. Immediately noticeable were the well-developed bicycle lanes, neatly maintained roadsides, and the large number of bicycles on the streets. Bicycles are one of the main means of transportation here, often heavily loaded and used to carry all kinds of goods.

In the evening, we were finally able to recharge again at a regular charging station.
