Day 356 From Santiago to Mendoza
📅 2ND July 2026 📍Mendoza, Argentina
Welcome to Argentina
For the planning of our South American journey, the most important point to consider was Los Libertadores Pass between Chile and Argentina, at an altitude of 3,185 meters. During winter, this pass is often closed for several days due to heavy snowfall, so when we heard it was open, we immediately took the opportunity to cross it.
The pass is beautiful to drive and features the famous winding road on the Chilean side. It is also heavily used by trucks. Thanks to our slow driving, we were able to make the crossing on a single charge and arrived in Argentina at night.
The drive down to Mendoza was a great feeling, as we were able to recuperate energy all the way down.
