Day 8: Dublin, Ireland
📅 8th July 2025 📍Dublin
From Holyhead to Dublin – over the Irish Sea and a Morning Talk
Our day began in Holyhead, the ferry port on the Welsh west coast and gateway to Ireland. Since we arrived on time for boarding, we had a short moment to rest before departure – a welcome break after several intense days on the road.
On board the ferry to Dublin, we had a small cabin and used the roughly four-hour crossing to catch up on some much-needed sleep.
Upon arrival in Dublin, we were warmly greeted at 5 a.m. by Graeme from VW Ireland. Despite the early hour, he took the time to give us a brief introduction to the city – including a quick visit to the legendary U2 Studios.
For our eyewitness report, we made a stop at the police station, and it turned out that the police officer who filled out the report for us spoke German, as she had previously worked as an au pair in Germany.
Afterwards, we headed to the Volkswagen Group Ireland , where I gave a short presentation.
Following our visit with the Irish VW team, we returned straight to the Dublin ferry terminal – because tonight, the next leg of our journey continues.Â
Next stop: Milton Keynes.
