Day 85-91 Thailand North and Bangkok
📅 23 to 29 september 2025 📍Thailand North and Bangkok
Into Thailand: Border Crossings and a Bangkok Welcome
We crossed from Laos into Thailand in the depths of night, during the transition from the 22nd to the 23rd of September. The process went smoothly, thanks to thorough preparation and a warm welcome on arrival. Since 2016, Thailand has introduced a significant fee for travellers bringing private vehicles across the border, but despite this, I was simply glad that everything with the formalities went according to plan.
Thailand’s infrastructure was an instant relief after the rough roads of Laos. Once more, the highways were well maintained and, crucially, equipped with CCS2-standard charging points—something we had been missing throughout our time in China due to their unique connector system. Recharging became far easier, a small detail that felt like a major improvement after many weeks.
Driving south along Thailand’s two-lane motorways, large portraits of the King kept appearing by the roadside, reminders of the monarchy’s presence and significance across the country. By evening, we rolled into the vibrant cityscape of Bangkok, where we spent our time capturing images of its many celebrated landmarks—a fitting welcome to this dynamic capital.
Next stop: Thailand South!
