Southbound from Bangkok: Coasts, Temples, and the Road to Malaysia

We continued southwards from Bangkok, setting our sights on the Malaysian border. For the first time on this journey, we found ourselves driving alongside Thailand’s stunning coastline—a backdrop of sweeping beaches and gentle surf, dotted with vibrant fishing villages.

What truly caught our attention were the traditional wooden boats, elegantly moored at bustling harbours, their colourful bows turned towards the open sea. Each port told a new story, a living thread in the fabric of Thai coastal life.

We couldn’t pass by the temples, either; their golden spires and ornate statues practically beckoned us to pause. At nearly every stop, we snapped photos of our car next to one of these remarkable temple figures—a habit that became a highlight in itself.

As evening fell, we reached the border with Malaysia. Looking back, Thailand stood out as one of the true highlights of our journey—its landscapes, its welcoming spirit, and the rhythm of discovery along every mile.
