Singapore: Grand Arrival, Urban Glamour, and the Journey’s End (for now)

In October, we crossed the iconic border into Singapore at Woodlands—always a momentous point in an overland Eurasian journey. The following morning, on the 8th, saw another media event, this time in the Volkswagen Singapore showroom. Surrounded by journalists and the energy of anticipation, we shared the story of our adventure.

By midday, we took the opportunity for a driving tour of Singapore’s most famous sights. Every visit reminds me anew: this city is truly spectacular, a genuine highlight and—historically—the finale for many a continental crossing. For me, Singapore represents the threshold where the land ends and the sea takes over, with the vehicle set for container shipping to the next chapter. So too, this time.

The evening brought a memorable customer event; I was delighted to photograph my own ID. Buzz in a circle of more than twenty model siblings—an electric reunion to mark the transition.

On the morning of 9th October, our route led back into Malaysia, to Tanjung Pelepas. Here, the Buzz was cleaned, emptied, and carefully packed into its container. Soon, aboard a Maersk ship, it would head for Jakarta.
With the next stage scheduled to begin on 27th October in Jakarta, the adventure is far from over.

Next stop: Jakarta
